An old fashioned fun filled evening full of surprises
Southside Blues Revue revives the heyday of the American Revue.
From the moment you enter the room it’s obvious that Southside Blues Revue is no ordinary blues band. The five strong band - dressed in smart black suits - perform their own songs and support guest performers and musicians based on the American Revue Principle. No performance is the same!! Southside Blues Revue’s sound is reminiscent of the revue’s heyday, but with a modern twist. An original Hammond B3 organ (weighing 130 kilo’s), a piano with real strings and vintage instruments create an unique retro sound. The different formats of popular songs prove that classical blues numbers don’t have to sound worn out. Various guest performances ensure that every performance is one full of surprises. Southside Blues Revue has accompanied internationally acclaimed artists such as Jan van der horst (NL), Magic Frankie (NL), Dicky Greenwood (NL), Duke Danger (USA, alongside Jerry Lee Lewis band and Percy Sledge) and Gene Taylor (USA, alongside Canned Heat, The Blasters and Fabulous Thunderbirds).
Southside Blues Revue guarantees to give the public what they came for: entertainment, quality and wonderful music. And this effect they achieve no matter whether they perform in a cafe or at a festival. - Armando Jansen - Guitar and Vocals

Biography / Previous bands:
Over the years I’ve played the guitar in many bands and toyed with many styles of music, most of which are not even worth mentioning ;-).
I’ve spent a lot of time playing funk, and have spent a few years performing with Holland’s best rock cover band, “Hucksters” (www.hucksters.nl). I’ve always had a soft spot for the blues and have always searched out blues bands that are different to the standard SRV bands, or heavy other hard bluesrock bands. I’ve since found that ‘perfect’ band and am proud to say that for the past three years I’ve been a member of the Southside Blues Revue.Gear (on stage gear, off stage gear)
As a guitarist you are always searching for the perfect sound and better sound. Over the years I’ve gathered such a long list that it’s difficult to give this question a quick answer. When playing live on stage I tend to use my ‘64 blackface Fender Bassman top with a 2×12 cabinet. I use a ‘63 Blackface Fender Tremolux top as reserve amp, and a Bad Cat combo, the Classic cat for smaller gigs and studio work. The entire “Good Times” cd was recorded with this amplifier. An original blackface Super Reverb is still on the top of my wish list!
I’m lucky with guitars in that I have sufficient choice; my collection consists of a few guitars that were built by Erik van de Haar, such as a Haar sunburst Telecaster with Lollar P90 elements, a Haar surf sports green Stratocaster with John Suhr pick-ups, three Heritage guitars (two les Pauls and one ES335 model), as well as a Gretsch Country Classic with filtertrons. When playing live I tend to use the Heritage 335 by Heritage in combination with a Telecaster or Stratocaster, both built by Erik van de Haar.
I don’t often use special effects, but when I do it’s usually to improve my simple one channel amplifiers to an acceptable solo volume and sound. I also use a MI Audio Blues Pro, a really old Ibanez TS808, or a Fulltone Fulldrive II. - Pim Spetter - Piano
